Happy Birthday to Rajat Kapoor, Indian actor, writer, and director, born on February 11, 1961, in Delhi India. Rajat studied at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and made his debut in 1989 in ‘Khayal Gatha’. In the 1990s, Rajat started writing and directing short films, making his debut as director of ‘Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One’ in 1997. In 2001, he appeared in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, as Preity Zinta’s uncle and in ‘Monsoon Wedding’, as the wealthy but abusive uncle of the bride. He received a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for ‘Raghu Romeo’ (2003), which he wrote and directed. Other films he has been in are: ‘Kisna: The Warrior Poet’ (2005), ‘Mixed Doubles’ (2006), ‘Corporate’ (2006), ‘Krazzy 4’ (2008), ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’ (2010), and ‘Ankhon Dekhi’ (2014) which he directed, wrote and acted in. Rajat also played the cheating father in the hit ‘Kapoor ad Sons’ (2006). Rajat will be seen in Anushka Sharma’s horror film ‘Pari’, releasing in March 2018.


Happy Birthday to Amrita Singh, Indian television and film actress, born on February 9, 1958 in India.  Amrita made her Bollywood debut in the very successful film ‘Betaab’ in 1986 opposite Sunny Deol. Other hit films were ‘Sunny’ (1984), ‘Mard” and ‘Saahb’ (1985), ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ and ‘Naam’ (1986), and ‘Khudgarz’ (1987). Amrita also successfully played negative roles such as ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen’ (1992), and ‘Aaina’ (1993), for which she won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. In 1991, Amrita married Saif Ali Khan who was twelve years her junior. Amrita gave up acting in 1993 to become a fulltime wife and mother. They divorced in 2004 and Amrita resumed acting. Most recently, she has been seen in ‘Aurangzeb’ (2013) and ‘2 States’ (2014) as the Punjabi mother of Arjun Kapoor.


Happy Birthday to Abhishek Bachchan, Indian actor and producer, born on February 5, 1976, in Mumbai.  Abhishek is the son of Amitabh Bachchan, an iconic acting figure in Bollywood for the last forty plus years, and a famed actress mother, Jaya Badhuri Bachchan. Abhishek began his film career debuting in ‘Refugee’ alongside Kareena Kapoor. After a string of box office flops, things changed in 2004 with ‘Yuva’, winning a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, and ‘Dhoom’, a top-grossing film for that year.  Since then, Abhishek has found success in movies such as: ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ (2005), ‘Sarkar’ (2005), ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ (2006), ‘Dhoom 2’ (2006), ‘Guru’ (2007), ‘Dostana’ (2008), ‘Bol Bachchan’ (2012), and ‘Dhoom 3’ (2013).  Other than acting, Abhishek produced ‘Paa’ (2009), a film about progeria, a rare genetic disease, which was honored with the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. In 2014, he appeared in the hit ‘Happy New Year’ and was last seen in ‘Housefull 3’ in 2016. He has hosted television shows, is a brand ambassador for many well-known companies, and has performed in several world-wide tours of Bollywood entertainment shows. Abhishek owns a Pro Kabaddi team and an Indian Super League football team.  Abhishek has been married to Aishwarya Rai since 2007, and the couple has one daughter, Aaradhya.


Happy Birthday to Urmila Matondkar, Indian actress of film and television, born on February 4, 1974, in Mumbai. Urmila began acting as a child in 1981, in the film ‘Kalyug’. As an adult, she made her debut in 1991’s ‘Narasimha’. Her second Hindi film was ‘Chamatkar’ with Shah Rukh Khan. Urmila often collaborated with director Ram Gopal Verma in such movies as ‘Drohi’ (1992), ‘Rangeela’ (1995), ‘Satya’ (1998), and ‘Jungle” (2000). In 2003, Urmila won a Filmfare Award Best Actress (Critics’ Choice) for her role as a ghost possessed woman in ‘Bhoot’, and in 2005 for ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara’. Other successful movies are: ‘Judaai” (1997) and ‘Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya’ (2001). She is an outstanding dancer and has also appeared in many item numbers. Urmila has been a judge on several reality and dance shows. In 2014, Urmila played a wildlife biologist in the film ‘Ajoba’, a Marathi film. She was married in 2016 to model Mohsin Akhtar Mir.


Happy Birthday to Waheeda Rehman, Indian actress who was called the “Quintessential Beauty of Bollywood” in her day, born February 3, 1938, in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu.  Waheeda started her career in Telugu and Tamil films in 1955. She was proficient in Bharat Natyam, a dance form particular to Tamil Nadu. Waheeda then caught the attention of Guru Dutt, one of Indian’s greatest directors. She starred in five of Dutt’s classic films: ‘Pyaasa’, ’12 O’Clock’, ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’, ‘Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam’, and ‘Chaudhvin Ka Chand’. Waheeda also had a good working relationship with Dev Anand. They made several blockbusters together, including ‘Guide’ (1965) for which she won a Filmfare Best Actress Award. Waheeda also won this award for ‘Neel Kamal’ in 1968. Her biggest hit came in “Khamoshi’ (1970) with Rajesh Khanna. By the mid-seventies, Waheeda began doing character roles. She won Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress in: ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ (1976), ‘Namkeen’ (1982), and ‘Lamhe’ (1991). After retiring from films to raise her family, she returned to work in 2002, appearing in movies like: ‘Water’ (2005), ‘Rang De Basanti’ (2006), and ‘Delhi 6’ (2009). Waheeda will be seen in Kamal Hassan’s ‘Vishwaroop 2’, which is scheduled for release in 2018.


Happy Birthday to Jackie Shroff, Indian actor, born on February 1, 1960, into a Gujarati family in Mumbai. Jackie made his debut in the movie “Swami Dada”, starring and directed by Dev Anand in 1982.  In 1983, director and producer Subhash Ghai launched Jackie as the lead in his film “Hero”. In 1988, he won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s cult classic “Parinda”.  Some of his best-known films are: ‘Khalnayak’ (1994), ‘1942-A Love Story’ (1995), ‘Rangeela’ (1996), ‘Mission Kashmir’ (2001), ‘Devdas’ (2003), and ‘Happy New Year’ (2014).  Altogether, Jackie has made over 200 films in nine languages. Jackie played the hero in the ’80’s and ’90’s, and many character roles in the 2000’s to present. He most recently appeared in ‘Brothers’, ‘Sardar 3” (2017). Jackie also own a Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Short Film for ‘Khujli’. He and his wife, Ayesha, own Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited. They have two children, a daughter Krishna, and a son Tiger, who made his acting debut in “Heropanti” (2014), a remake of his father’s film “Hero”.
