Aru Valley, Jummu and Kashmir

Aru Valley is located in the Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Aru Valley and the village of Pahalgam, Kashmir, are known for the surrounding meadows, lakes and mountains. The village is on the left bank of the Aru river. It is a well known tourist destination for trekkers to the Kolahoi Glacier, the largest glacier in the Kashmir Valley. There are some 20 alpine lakes the valley. In winter, the valley receives heavy snow allowing for skiing and heliskiing. At other times of year, tourists can fish, hike, ride horseback, sightseeing and take photographs.
