Shah Rukh Khan

 Shah Rukh Khan ~ iconic Bollywood actor, producer, and tv personality, born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi. The star of more than 80 films, Shah Rukh is also known as SRK, “King of Bollywood” and “King Khan”. He has a large following throughout Asia and the Middle East and with the Indian diaspora globally. Shah Rukh started his career appearing in two television serials in the late 1980s: ‘Fauji’ (now available on Amazon Prime) and ‘Circus’. He made his film debut in 1992 in ‘Deewana’. His co-star was Divya Bharti. ‘Deewana’ was a hit and SRK won the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award.  In early career days, he was known for villain roles in: ‘Baazigar’ (1993), ‘Darr’ (1993), and ‘Anjaam’ (1994). In 1995, Shah Rukh played a romantic role in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, co-starring Kajol. The film became an all-time blockbuster and still holds the record for being the longest-running film in Bollywood history. This was the start of many romances and family dramas. He often worked with Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra, and Karan Johar who helped him attain superstar status. Some of his hit films are: ‘Karan Arjun’ (1995), ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ (1997), ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998), ‘Devdas’ (2002), ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004), ‘Swades’ (2004), ‘Chak De! India’ (2007), ‘My Name is Khan’ (2010), ‘Chennai Express’ (2013), and ‘Happy New Year’ (2014). His last films, Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ (2017) and Aanand L. Rai’s ‘Zero’, were not received well, and subsequently, SRK has taken a break from films. He holds the record for receiving the most Filmfare Awards for Best Actor, tied with the iconic Dilip Kumar. Shah Rukh has hosted many award shows in the last two decades and he is known for his quick wit and charm. He is the founder, along with his wife Gauri, of Red Chillies Entertainment which does film and tv production, special effects, and advertising. In 2005, he was presented the Padma Shri by the government of India for his contribution to the Arts. Shah Rukh also owns a cricket team, the Kolkata Knight Riders.
