Despondent over business problems and rejected by the woman he loves, Aditya Kashyap wants to end it all.  In a funk, he boards a train and encounters Geet. She is secretly planning to elope.   Geet is overwhelming, talks non-stop, and doesn’t know how to mind her own business.  Aditya attempts to escape her by leaving the train but when Geet follows him they both wind up stranded.  She insists it is now Aditya’s responsibility to see that she arrives home safely.
The journey home is full of funny and sweet moments.  Geet is spontaneous, impulsive, and full of life, but she doesn’t think things through.  Aditya is sensitive, cautious, and responsible. Their contrasting personalities are at the heart of this film’s magic.  By the time they reach Geet’s family home in Punjab, they have become friends, but her family mistakes their friendship for love.  Geet impulsively decides to run away to Manali and elope with her boyfriend, Anshuman.  Aditya promises to get her there safely before returning to Mumbai.
Upon returning to the city, Aditya picks up his life with a whole new attitude.  He becomes passionate about his business and life turns around for him.  Nine months later Geet’s family shows up at Aditya’s company and they are angry.  They believe Geet and Aditya ran away together. Aditya is shocked to find out that Geet never contacted her family and he promises to find her and bring her back.  What Aditya finds when he returns to Manali makes up the very entertaining second half of Jab We Met.
Jab We Met, written and directed by Imtiaz Ali, is funny, touching, and intelligent. Shahid Kapoor‘s (Aditya) naturally pleasant demeanor and quiet authority are even more appealing when he erupts in frustration over Geet’s foolishness. Shahid adds subtle detail to his performance with facial expressions and body language. Kareena Kapoor (Geet) has a unique beauty all her own. As Geet, Kareena creates a fully fleshed-out character; sometimes annoying, sometimes sweet, full of a zest for life but naive and vulnerable at the same time.  Realizing that her natural inclinations have led her down the wrong path,  she convinces us that she has lost her dream and her spirit.
Some scenes were shot in what was once the summer capital of the British, Shimla, and in Manali, a popular tourist spot for Indians in the Himalayas during the summer months.
Shahid has a chance to show off his dancing skills in two songs, “Nagada Nagada” and  “Mauja Hi Mauja“.   There are three others songs that are memorable songs in the film: “Aao Milo Chale“, ” Yeh Ishq Hai“, and my favorite, “Tumse Hi“.
