Kapoor and Sons is a family drama that leaves you feeling you have been an observer of a real family. It is the story of accepting that family members have weaknesses, but on the other side of disappointment, our family’s love helps us cope and rise above them. This film is not a typical Bollywood film, in that it is more of a realistic character study of a modern family. The drama is understated and the story unfolds as daily life does. In the second half of the movie old wounds and secrets appear and the groundwork laid in the first half will leave you touched emotionally by the movie.

2015 – BollywoodPrime Does Not Recommend These Movies
Tevar – Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor lack chemistry and the story is poorly written. Set in Agra home of the Taj Mahal, but this is not used to add interest either.
Dolly Ki Doli – The same storyline repeated three times. Sonam Kapoor passes over true love to rip prospective groom and their parents off. Why?
Shamitabh – A first grader might come up with a plot like this. A mute man (Dhanush) wants to act, so he convinces an older washed up actor (Amitabh Bachchan) to be his voice and no one is supposed to catch on. Really.
Roy – Arjun Kapoor is a totally pretentious screenwriter and Ranbir Kapoor is a thief who is sullen and boring. Jacqueline Fernandez had some wonderful songs. Watch them on YouTube and skip the movie.
Main Aur Charles – The life of con artist/serial killer Charles Sobhraj in the 1980’s. Randeep Hooda has the worst French accent I have ever heard and the character is despicable.
Shaandaar – Were Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt given lines that were written down in this movie, or did they have a few drinks and director Vikas Bahl started filming. Yes, Shahid and Alia are adorable but this movie was a total waste of time!
BollywoodPrime One-Time Watch Movies – 2015
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! – Sushant Singh Rajput creates an interesting character as a novice detective with a keen analytical mind. Period setting of Calcutta during WWII is well done. Quite a mix of characters weaving in and out of the story. Unfortunately, the story loses needed tension and action by the end of the film.
Gabbar is Back – Akshay Kumar is a college professor whose wife died in a building collapse. He seeks revenge by finding the responsible official, and hanging him. Akshay’s (Gabbar) whole life becomes about avenging corruption and he teaches his students to do the same. By the end of the movie, the body count mindlessly too high.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns – It is fun to watch Kangana Renault play the selfish, worldly Tanu, and the sweet, innocent but self-aware Kusum, but I was disappointed in other aspects of the story. As doctor Manu, R. Madhaven seems to have the maturity of a teenager, by getting engaged to someone whose main qualification is that she “looks” like his wife.

In his early childhood, he was a member of a large Sikh family and had a special relationship with his older sister, Ishvar.
